Researchers review risks threatening Shams-ul-Emareh Palace

The Public Relations Office of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (RICHT) quoted Manijeh Hadian (who is a faculty member of the Center) as saying on Tuesday that the plan is among research plans of the Center that was accomplished with the cooperation of the Golestan Palace world complex after a year.

She added: “The purpose of implementing the plan, while evaluating the different capabilities of this method in the study of historical monuments, has been the detection of the damage factors such as moisture, fissures and fractures, erosion of the levels, burnout of electrical installations and problems of the cooling and heating systems.

Hadian reiterated that therefore in the process of the project 36 times and in different warm and cold weather conditions thermal imaging were made of different parts of the palace, including the building, and electrical and mechanical equipment.

She said the results of the plan in the field of the threatening risks of the Golestan Palace complex are highly valuable.

Hadian further remarked that the thermography or infra-red thermal imaging is a non-destructive and regular method for the collection, storage and analysis of the infra-red radiation energy.

According to the researcher, the imaging systems are infra-red and the imaging system or the thermography camera is a device which is capable of measuring and displaying a specific range of the infra-red waves in the range of 8-15 (or 7-14) micro-meters.

She stated that objects with a temperature above zero would emit these waves and the intensity of the emission is proportional to the temperature of the object, therefore a thermogram or the thermal image, is an image which shows the map of distribution of different levels of infra-red radiation energy from the surface of the object which is visible.
