Quake rocks southern Iran

According to the seismological center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 6:47 hours local time (3:17 GMT Monday) in an area located at 48.83 degrees longitude and 32.86 degrees latitude and in the depth of eight kilometers.

The epicenter of the quake was registered at 40 km of Saland, Khuzestan Province, 40 km of Sepiddasht in Lorestan and 49 km of Shool Abad, Lorestan Province.

There is no immediate report on possible casualties or damages, Prefect of Sardasht City local official Masoud Sakhaie told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Last week on Sunday night a large-scale earthquake measuring at 7.3 on Richter scale hit western Iran causing massive damages and casualties.
