In an interview with the Islamic republic News Agency (IRNA), PNCA Film Club Coordinator Aijaz Gul, said Pakistan values its ties with Iran and is willing to promote cultural ties with the neighboring state for the benefit of the people of both nations.
The member of International Federation of Film Critics expressing his views said that Urdu and Persian are very close to each other so Iran and Pakistan can promote their cultural ties through language. He noted that national poet of Pakistan and thinker Allama Iqbal had done most of his work in Persian language.
He said, 'We can show the Iranian films to our children who are not familiar to the Iranian films. “I am glad that Iran is the only country in the world that has dedicated children cinemas,” he said.
The renowned film critic desired to see cultural exchanges between Iran and Pakistan, especially in the film world which would also improve bilateral ties between the two countries. “Food, music and films can bring us together,” he said.
Aijaz Gul expressing his views said Iranian cinema has been one of the main enthralling and appealing cinema industry in the world and has gained special status among the world’s cinema industry with its unique and innovative film directing techniques.
“Iranian cinema is superb, it has everything, beautiful photography, good scripts, good direction,” Gul said. He said that as a film student he wants to learn as much he can about the Iranian cinema.
Member of NETPAC (distribution company for international top information technology manufactures in Pakistan) said that we should start showing films at PNCA and at also National Institute of Folk & Traditional Heritage (Lok virsa) so that the people can get familiar with the Iranian films. “Sometimes we do show Iranian films at Lok Virsa,” he said.
Professor at RIPHAH University went on to say that people in Pakistan should know that Iranian films are being shown at cultural centers. “Iranian movies are being appreciated globally and their screening in Pakistan must be encouraged,” he added.
Aijaz Gul added that Iranian dramas and films should also be shown on Pakistani TV channels. “Pakistani people are not aware about the quality of the Iranian films because they have not seen them,” noted the expert.
The critic said that Iranian actors, actresses, and directors should be known to Pakistani public. “It is very important that when the film is shown people should know about actors,” he said.
“Baran, Rang-e Khuda and Bacha hai Aasman are among my favorite movies,” he said.
He said Iran and Pakistan can do joint productions in film and dramas to promote and encourage common national heritage. “We need co-production with Iran than any other country,” noted the expert.
The PNCA official added it is time that Iran and Pakistan should get together.
