'Iran is doing a good job for promoting regional cooperation and in the field of Geomatics and geology, so I think that this event will be very successful,' Mohammad Atiq Mir said in an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on the sidelines of the 2nd Meeting of ECO Geomatics Committee held from August 27-28 in Tehran.
'Iranian cartographic center is doing a very good job and is cooperating with the ECO member states and this will be very fruitful for the region and for other countries,' he added.
Underling Iran's success in Geomatics field, he said 'I think in its cartographic center and natural resources Iran is doing very good job in terms of producing good maps and providing technical information.'
'I thinks in this fields of mapping and GIS as well as the natural resources they are doing very good job,' he reiterted.
Elaborating on the goals of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Atiq said 'As for the ECO cooperation we must say that the economic cooperation between countries is not an easy job, ECO secretariat is also doing very good job to interact with these countries because as you know we do not have much resources and much money for this kind of activities but I think for the regional cooperation ECO is doing its best.'
He also referred to commonalities among ECO member states saying 'I think we can cooperate with one another in many fields.'
In response to a question on Pakistan's plan to develop relations with Iran, he said 'Actually Iran and Pakistan are neighboring, Muslim and brotherly countries and they have very good relations and cooperation because people are linked together and our government has a very good cooperation with the Iranian government.'
'In the field of geometric and natural resources we must cooperate and learn from each other. We can share experiences as Iran is doing very well and Pakistan is doing another job so together we can do a lot,' he said.
The 2nd Meeting of ECO Geomatics Committee was held with the participation of the member states.
The first round of the event was held three years ago attended by Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey and ECO secretariat in Tehran.
