Pak analyst urges quick int'l response to Iran floods

Sabir Karbalai in his article published in daily ‘Pakistan’ said that unprecedented floods in Iran have caused huge loss to life and property in different parts of the country.

He noted that however due to early warnings by country’s administration and quick response the scale of damage was reduced. He added that despite all efforts floods have hit about 20 provinces of Iran.

The analyst added that it is very unfortunate that on one hand Iran is facing the challenge of floods but on the other the US is busy in hatching conspiracies against the Islamic Republic and is even trying its utmost to harm Iran flood relief efforts.

Sabir Karbalai noted that the US unjustified and inhuman sanctions against Iran are affecting country’s flood relief and rescue efforts as Iran in this hour of need cannot purchase helicopters or other rescue equipment to be used to help flood-stricken people.

He went on to say that Iranian government with its own resources is trying its best to help and rescue flood affected people and one would hope that they would overcome the challenge of floods very soon.

He said that the US has proved by its behavior against Iran that it is the biggest violator of human rights and has no sympathy towards the people of Iran.

He criticized international community for showing slow response towards Iran flood relief efforts. Karbalai said though Iran has not requested for any humanitarian aid it is responsibility of the world especially the Muslim countries to help Iran in this difficult time.

“We must acknowledge that Iran is the only country in the world that is standing with the oppressed people of Palestine,” said that analyst.
