Over seven tons of narcotics seized in southeastern Iran: Police

After annihilating five armed bands, the police forces could seize the illegal drugs at the first half of the fifth month of the Iranian calendar (July 23 to August 6), Sistan-Baluchestan's Police Chief Brigadier Mohammad Qanbari told reporters.

Elaborating on the issue, Qanbari said that police forces also arrested 22 drug smugglers and 107 drug retailers during the period.

The official went on to say that 34 cars and nine weapons have also been seized from the smugglers.

Iran's Sistan-Baluchestan Province has 1,100 km of joint borders with Afghanistan and Pakistan which are the two main producers of illegal drugs.
