Over one ton of narcotics seized in southeast Iran province

Brigadier General Mohammad Qanbari said that anti-drug squad in the Delgan town in the southeastern Iranian province gained information about smuggling activities of a big band and started operations to stop them.

On Wednesday, the police identified the smugglers on Iranshahr-Delgan Road but they fled away and left behind a passenger car and a pickup van.

After inspecting the vehicles, police confiscated 957.21 kilograms of narcotics from one of the vehicles while another 51 kilograms of opium was seized from a smuggler riding another road motor vehicle.

Sistan and Baluchestan is located in the southeast of the country, bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The province is the second largest province in Iran with an area of 180,726 square km and a population of 2.5 million.
