OSCE Secretary General sympathizes with Iran quake victims

In his Friday message to Iranian envoy to Vienna Ebadollah Molaei, Greminger expressed grief and sorrow over the sad occasion.

He also condoled with Iranian people and government.

Foreign leaders have extended their condolence messages. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, German Ambassador in Tehran Michael Klor-Berchtold, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, Pope Fracis of the Catholic Church and President of International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer are among the high-ranking politicians who sympathized with the Iranian peope and government on the tragic event.

A strong earthquake with magnitude of 7.3 on Richter scale jolted western provinces of Iran on Sunday November 12, 2017 at 21:48 hours local time, (18:18 GMT).

The latest toll of the quake is 436 dead and above 10,000 injured.

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is the world's largest security-oriented intergovernmental organization. Its mandate includes issues such as arms control, promotion of human rights, freedom of the press, and fair elections.
