Oman, Japan deliver humanitarian aids to Iran

Addressing a meeting with head of Iran Relief and Rescue Organization Morteza Salimi, Deputy Ambassador of Oman in Tehran Sultan Bin Rashid Al-Qatbi said that the Omani diplomatic mission in Tehran followed up developments about the flood since the very beginning.

He added that based on the order issued by Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said al Said, the aids were forwarded to Iran by Oman Charity Organization.

He also expressed readiness to send the next consignments more rapidly, adding that Omani government has used military airfield to save time and accelerate the process of rendering assistance.

Meanwhile, the aids offered by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was delivered with the attendance of managing director of Iranian foreign ministry for Asia and the Pacific affairs, head of Iran Relief and Rescue Organization Morteza Salimi, Japan Ambassador to Iran Mitsuo Saito and representative of JICA office in Iran Yuki Haro Kubayashi.

In the meeting with Salimi, Saito said that Japanese people remember Iranians' aids during earthquake and Tsunami in Japan.

He added that it is Japan responsibility to send humanitarian aids which indicate sympathy to Iranians.

He expressed readiness to help Iran in reconstruction of the ruined areas.

In the meantime, Kubayashi expressed condolences over the deaths caused by flood in Iran and appreciated the efforts made by all those who have offered assistance to flood-stricken people.
He also vowed more help and establishing more effective cooperation.

Unprecedented heavy rains caused floods in various parts of Iran over past two weeks. Scores of people were killed and 478 others were injured while a large number of people were displaced across Iran.

The disaster coincided with the high season of Iranians' trips as they were spending the national two-week holidays of Nowruz.

Several neighboring countries, such as Turkey, Russia and Kuwait and some European states have sent emergency supplies to Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS).
