Oliver stone tours FIFF in Tehran

Stone has always been an inspiration for those willing to make controversial and anti-war films as he himself is the creator of films took the world by storm such as Snowden, Born on the Fourth of July, The Untold History of the United States, and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, and has received several significant awards, including Oscar.

Stone's valuable and rich history in writing and directing over 20 full-length feature films has proved his ability to make films in various genres and styles. He is also famous for hit films Platoon, Scarface, Born on the Fourth of July and Natural Born Killers.

He has always objected to government's policies, greed, collusion and corruption. He has made movies voicing the frustration of the Vietnam War generation and revealed a political advertisement calling for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, a demand Iran regularly made.

Presided over by writer-director Reza Mirkarimi, the 36th edition of Fajr International Film Festival will continue until April 27.

The event organizers is hosting over 300 special guests from around the world, ranging from filmmakers to screenwriters, actors to activists.

A host of A-listers are also scheduled to attend, including legendary Italian actor Franco Nero and influential American film director Oliver Stone.
