Nowruz celebrated in Netherlands

Addressing the ceremony, Iranian Chargé d'affaires Mahdi Nourian said Iran is ready to maintain cooperation with economic activists and investors to develop production in the country.

Nowruz (meaning new day in Persian) marks the first day of spring.

The Persian New Year is celebrated across the world by various countries, particularly Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, countries falling within the Former Yugoslavia, Republic of Macedonia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan.

It was registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009 by the UN.

Earlier, Iranians, Russians and Belarusians were holding various ceremonies to mark Nowruz.

On Friday, Russians who were interested in Iranian culture, language and civilization held Nowruz celebrations in the State Tretyakov Gallery.

A celebration was also organized by Iran embassy in Belarus and also Islamic centers, Iran friendship house and the diplomatic missions of other countries celebrating Nowruz.

Meanwhile earlier, the countries celebrating Nowruz in a different act held a food festival in the United Nations.
