Norwegian plane leaves Shiraz airport after 70 days

The Boeing plane en route to Oslo, Norway, from Dubai, had to make an emergency landing in Shiraz international airport on December 14, 2018 due to technical problems.

Due to the time required for sending a relief aircraft by Norwegian officials to Shiraz, passengers were accommodated in a hotel in the southern Iranian city.

Meanwhile earlier, the Norwegian airline announced in a statement “due to a technical issue, the flight from Dubai to Oslo diverted to Shiraz International Airport. The aircraft landed normally and taxied to a gate allowing passengers to disembark. Norwegian Air has sent a relief aircraft to Shiraz International Airport to allow passengers to continue their journey to Oslo as soon as possible. We would like to apologize for any inconvenience that this delay may have caused.'

An interesting thing that turned this horrifying incident to an opportunity for knowing Iranian people's hospitality was that an American fashion psychologist, who was on board of the Norwegian flight Dawnn Karen in an exclusive interview with IRNA said that 'the Iranian people allowed me to have a pleasant experience contrary to what has been promulgated in the media.'

Elaborating on her fear which turned out to be an opportunity, she said, 'Although it was a horrific experience-having the engine shut off and descending unexpectedly in Shiraz- the Iranian people were very hospitable and very kind. I was able to learn about the fashion psychology- the science behind what the Iranian women wore- to increase my knowledge and to expand my field of study.'
