'Given the fact that the narcotics discoveries and illegal entrances take place at the Pakistani border, we need to strengthen the security at the border,' Brigadier General Qasem Rezaee told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
He also said that he is going to visit Afghanistan to follow up the previous agreements and increase collaboration in border management.
He added that one of the main issues in this regard is strengthening borders with Afghanistan especially near Zabol.
Regarding the fact that many Afghans enter Iran through the southeast borders, he said the border lines there are 'really long, tough, and high' and under surveillance 24/7, but still such things may happen.
All in all, mischief and drug trafficking is much more on the other side of the border, said General Qasemi.
He also said that of 8,755 km of border, the police controls 8,500 km; and the most martyrs are from the border force.
