According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 12:21 hours local time (7:51 GMT) in an area located at 30.75 degrees latitude and 51.59 degrees longitude.

No report on possible damage to life or property has been released yet.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
