Mild quake jolts south of Iran

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 20:19 local time at the depth of 16 km underground.

The epicenter of the quake was located at 29.40 degrees latitude and 51.39 degrees longitude.

Managing Director of Hormuzgan Crisis Management Office Qasem Qaedi said the quake brought no casualties or damage to properties.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
