
In a press conference on the sidelines of the first Iranian film festival on Monday, attended by cultural attaché at Iran's Embassy Ali Mohammad Sabeqi, Malaysian journalists said that various films from all over the world have been screened at their country's cinemas, but Iranian films have not been played.
They called for more Iranian films of various genres to be screened in Malaysia, particularly those that are played in international festivals.
The first Iranian film festival, with 6 films and two groups of artists, will be held in Malaysia on March 7-17.
The event is aimed at promoting cultural engagement between Iran and Malaysia, and a better understanding of the public and the artists in the southeastern Asian country of Iran film industry, Sabeqi earlier told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Sweet Taste of Imagination by Kamal Tabrizi, The Queen by Mohammad Ali Basheh Ahangar, Crazy Castle by Abolhasan Davoodi, Under the Smokey Roof by Pooran Derakhshandeh, Ceasefire 2 by Tahmineh Milani, and Where Are My Shoes by Kiomars Poorahmad will be put on the screen in the festival.
The films will be screened for free in cities of Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru.
