Out of 265 MPs present in an open session, 203 voted for him, 49 against while 13 abstained.
President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday nominated new ministers to take the helm of the economy, labor, industry and roads, as his administration faces mounting pressure to stabilize an economy thrown into turmoil by mismanagement and renewed US sanctions.
Born in 1966, Rahmani held various positions including deputy minister of industry, mine and trade, chairman of Majlis Industries and Mines Commission and MP of Tabriz in seventh, eighth and ninth parliaments.
He is currently studying managerial PhD in University of Industries and Mines.
Earlier, Mohammad Shariatmadari held the position, but he resigned from the position and President Rouhani accepted it.
