According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 02:46 hours local time (23:16 GMT) at the depth of 10 km underground.
The epicenter of the quake was located at 55.65 degrees longitude and 28.27 degrees latitude.
Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Managing Director of Hormuzgan Crisis Management Office Alireza Safa said the Sunday earthquake brought no casualties or damage to properties.
Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
