
According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 4:14 hours local time (23:45 GMT) in an area located at 31.03 degrees latitude and 56.32 degrees longitude and in the depth of 10 km underground.
No casualties or damage to property have been reported.
Iran sits on several major seismological fault lines, making it one of the world's most quake-prone countries.
Another quake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale jolted the area on Sunday.
