Light quake rocks NE Iran

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 8:28 hours local time (03:58 GMT) in an area located at 37.20 degrees latitude and 57 degrees longitude and at the depth of 9 km underground.

The epicenter of the earthquake was registered in 17 km of Sankhast, 19 km of Shoqan and 40 km of Qazi District.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
