According to IRNA, the ceremony was attended by Managing Director of Kish Free Zone Organization Gholam Hossein Mozaffari, ECO Cultural Institute’s head Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri, Deputy for Cultural and Social Affairs of Kish Free Trade Zone Saeed Pour Ali, Turkmenistan Ambassador Ahmad Qorbanov, Pakistani Ambassador Rafat Massoud, Kazakhstan Ambassador Askhat Orazbai, and a group of Kish officials.
Speaking on the sidelines of the ceremony, Managing Director of Kish Free Zone Organization highlighted that the opening of the office of the ECO Cultural Institute in Kish is considered as an important step in strengthening the international tourism of Kish Free Zone.
In an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Gholam Hossein Mozafari pointed to the economic Cooperation Organization’s cultural discourse as a major contribution to joint activities with Kish Island, adding that ECO's spiritual credibility in holding events is a valuable potential for Kish Island and 'through interaction with the ECO countries, we can use regional and global capacities to develop and strengthen the international tourism and tourism industry in Kish Island'.
He announced the cultural, literary, sports, libraries, peace and family from other areas of cooperation between the ECO Cultural Institute and the Kish Free Zone Organization, and added, 'In accordance with the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Institute and the Free Zone Organization, strengthening joint cooperation in all cultural spheres is considered and planned in this regard.
How to create an office and cooperation between the Kish Free Zone Organization and the ECO Cultural Institute in 2018 was on the agenda of the meeting of Mozaffari and Head of the ECO Cultural Institute Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri.
At the meeting, the Managing Director of Kish proposed that the first birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will held at the international level in cooperation with the ECO Cultural Institute and the use of mutual capacities on the island.
Also at the meeting, establishing Kish Air flights to the capital of the countries of the ECO region and organizing the cultural nights of the member states of the organization in Kish was considered as an appropriate step for development of tourism.
The Economic Cooperation Organization, in acronym ECO, is a regional economic organization. The three countries of Iran, Pakistan and Turkey founded the organization for the first time in 1962. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1993, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan joined the ECO.
The organization now has 10 members, about 330 million people and 8,620,697 square kilometers of land, oil, gas and industry facilities.
The ECO Cultural Institute is one of the 8 institutes under the umbrella of this organization, encouraging and promoting closer cooperation between the people of the region in general and among media groups, thinkers and artists in particular, carrying out research on the common cultural heritage of the countries of the region, publishing the results of studies and research in the form of books, periodicals in English and other languages of the region, as well as cultural, artistic and educational cooperation are among goals of the Institute.
