Head of Japan's International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Iran Yukihiro Kobayashi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that the main projects are restoration of Urmia Lake, Anzali Lagoon, community-oriented sustainable development in Qeshm Island and Hormozgan Province, and integrated management of Karoon basin in six provinces of Charmahal-Bakhtiari, Isfahan, Fars, Lorestan, Khuzestan, and Kohgilouyeh-Boyer Ahmad.
Addressing the air pollution in Tehran, cooperation in preparation for earthquakes and reducing its destructive effects, among others, are the agency's fields of cooperation with Iran.
He said that the aim of the cooperation is to contribute to progress of developing countries and boosting Iran-Japan bilateral relations.
JICA office in Iran, active in three major fields of environment, natural disasters and development of local Iranian industries, was established in 1974.
