Italy film week kicks off in Tehran

The Italy film week started in a ceremony held in the presence of Italian Ambassador to Iran Mauro Conchatori.

In the opening ceremony, the Italian envoy lauded huge turnout of Iranian people who have gathered to watch the Italian film, 'Giovanna's Father' which was screened in the first day of Italy film week.

Giovanna's Father (Italian: Il papà di Giovanna) is a 2008 Italian drama film directed by Pupi Avati.

Italian film week is scheduled to be held in the Iranian Artists Forum from July 1-6 with six Italian films being screened.

The films will be shown in the original language with Persian and English subtitles.

Feature films include Giovanna’s Father directed by Pupi Avati (2008), The Demons of St. Petersburg by Giuliano Montaldo (2007), A Second Childhood by Pupi Avati (2010), The Feast by Mimmo Calopresti (2007), Italy in a Day by Oscar winner director Gabriele Salvatores (2014) and The Arrival of Wang by Antonio and Marco Manetti (2011).

The event is a part of Italy’s cultural project ‘Italy, Cultures, the Mediterranean’.
