Iranian Consul General Ahmad Siahpoush told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that Iraqi popular groups in contacts with Iran's mission in Iraq have donated and expressed their readiness to help people who were affected by the recent floods.
The aid includes 100 tons of food from Iraqis in the southern provinces of Iraq.
The Iranian diplomat also noted that 50 trucks of aid supplies from Iraqi people would be dispatched to the flood-hit areas in Iran in coming days.
The active governor of Khorramshahr in Khuzestan Province confirmed the arrival of the aid through Shalamche border crossing in Iran on Wednesday.
Khuzestan was hit by floods due to heavy rains over the past few days. Flooding has made hundreds of people homeless.
Hashd al-Sha'bi, the popular part of Iraq's Army, has played a big role in organizing the aid.
