Iraq envoy vows to advance Tehran-Baghdad ties

Rageh Saber Abbood Al-Musawi made the remarks in a meeting with secretary of the central headquarters in charge of Arba'een ceremony Shahriar Heidari.

The Arba'een Pilgrimage is the world's largest public gathering that is held every year in Iraq. It is held at the end of the 40-day mourning period following Ashura , the religious ritual for the commemoration of the Prophet Mohammad's grandson Imam Hussein's martyrdom in 680.

At the meeting, Heidari referred to a draft agreement on Arba'een ritual which is to be signed by the interior ministers of Iran and Iraq in coming days and reviewed its provisions with the Iraqi ambassador.

He also proposed that the Iraqi envoy along with Iranian officials visit the three border crossings of Shalamcheh, Mehran and Chazzabeh on Iran-Iraq borders to review existing facilities on both sides of the joint border, which was welcomed by the Iraqi envoy.

The Iraqi envoy said he would make all necessary arrangements to ensure that this year's Arba'een pilgrimage would be held better than last year.
