The third edition of Ankara international tourism fair, known as Travel Expo Ankara Fair 2018, is being held at the Congresium International Convention & Exhibition Centre in Turkey's capital city on March 22-25.
Cultural attaché office of the Iranian Embassy in Ankara participated in the tourism fair for the third time to introduce the tourism attractions of the country to the visitors of the event.
Iran's cultural attaché Hassan Safarkhani told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that the fair is a golden opportunity to present the visitors a path to the country's touristic attractions.
'Promoting Iran's tourism industry requires measures to showcase various attractive features of the country, as it enjoys many unique capacities from natural to health and gastronomical attractions,' he said.
'However introducing the attractions is just one step we should take on the path; enhancing infrastructures and meeting global standards on tourism facilities are other important steps that should be taken as serious measures to push the country's tourism to the status it deserves.'
'Some tourist statistics rank Iran among the top ten places to visit,' he said.
Iran's pavilion is a 60-square-meter area positioned at the center of the fair. The cultural attaché office of Iran's Embassy will host visitors with live Iranian classical music, DVDs and books on Iran's attractions in Persian and Turkish languages, and presenting books.
Last year, more than 28,000 people visited the fair.
Travel Expo Ankara 2018 will be of additional importance for Turkey's tourism this year as it will enjoy a significant growth in terms of the international participators as well as the variety of activities, since there are exhibitors from 20 countries, compared to the seven countries that participated last year, and the interesting section of gastronomy tourism is added to the event.
On the first day of the event, the Turkish chefs claimed a world record on baking the heaviest baklava dessert weighing more than half a ton.
The cultural event is being held in an area of 10,000 square meters with support of some Turkish government organizations, including Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Ankara Municipality, as well as the private sector.
