The short flick, co-directed by Ako ZandKarimi and Saman Hosseinpour, will compete with 20 other short films from several countries, including Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland and Macedonia, ifilmtv.com reported.

‘Slaughter’ camera lenses are set to show the audiences a simple village family that owns only one cow. The cow, however, must be sold to help the family live through a rough winter.

The son, saddened by this decision, lets the cow go to prevent its doomed destiny.

The film had its first international screening and award at 2018 Early Bird International Student Film Festival in Bulgaria.

Since then, the short has taken part in other national and international events such as the 17th Third Eye Asian Film Festival in India.

The festival is an annual event held in early January in the village of Drvengrad (also known as Kustendorf) in the Mokra Gora region of Serbia.

It is a film and music festival organized by Rasta International, film director Emir Kusturica’s production company, in the village whose construction he financed in the mid-2000s on the slopes of Mećavnik hill.

The film and music festival was founded in 2008 with the idea of bringing together the icons of contemporary cinema and the young and emerging talents in filmmaking.

Great cineastes such as Asghar Farhadi, late Abbas Kiarostami and Leila Hatami from Iran have so far attended the festival.

The latest edition of the event is slated for January 11-16.
