The exhibition opened in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, in the presence of a number of officials, Uruguayan and Iranian figures, foreign diplomats and culture and art lovers.
At the opening ceremony, 'Rosa', the Cultural Director General of the Foreign Ministry of Uruguay, welcomed the visitors, describing the Nowruz ancient feast as very beautiful with valuable concepts.
In the ceremony, Iranian Ambassador Abolfazl Pasandideh, pointing to the history of Nowruz, argued that this ancient celebration reflects the spirit of peacemaking, altruism and moderation of Iranians, which has lasted from old time.
The ceremony was followed by beautiful pieces of original and traditional Iranian music.
The “Nowruz; Symbol of Peace and Friendship” exhibition will be open for public use by 12th of April, and the Nowruz customs and images will be displayed in Spanish.
Earlier, from March 18 to March 28, another exhibition entitled 'Iran; a Piece of Paradise' was held in the main hallway entrance of the Montevideo Municipality building, which introduced the artwork, tourist attractions and traditions of the Persians to the Uruguayan people.
Nowruz (meaning new day in Persian) marks the first day of spring.
The Persian New Year is celebrated across the world by various countries, particularly Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, countries falling within the Former Yugoslavia, Republic of Macedonia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan.
It was registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009 by the UN.
