Iran's Kiarostami case verdict issued

According to the verdict, the doctor was sentenced to a written reprimand registered in his profile and published in medical media, Khalili said.

IRIMC earlier announced that the hospital reports received from France confirms IRIMC’s judgment about Abbas Kiarostami’s death.

The main cause of the noted Iranian director’s death had been reported as ‘meningeal hemorrhage’ (bleeding within brain membranes).

The further inspections on Kiarostami’s death were carried out upon his son’s request.

Abbas Kiarostami (1940 –2016) was an Iranian film director, producer, screenwriter, and photographer. Since 1970, Kiarostami had been involved in over forty films, including shorts and documentaries.

He had traveled to France to receive treatment for cancer after undergoing surgery in Tehran. He died at the age of 76 on July 4, 2016, in Paris. He was buried in Tehran.
