Iranian movie to compete for 2019 Oscar

Institute in charge of selecting the films to compete in film festivals, Farabi Cinema Foundation, selected ‘No Date, No Signature’ as Iran’s representative in the 91st Academy Awards film festival in a statement on Friday.

The movie was chosen from a group of more than 110 movies after several rounds of reviewing the movies, their background, and other foreign films participated in the festival, the statement read.

The Iranian movies ‘A Separation ‘ and ‘The Salesman’ both directed by Asghar Farhadi won the best foreign film Oscar in 83rd and 88th editions of the festival, respectively.

Also many other Iranian films have been nominated for Oscar in different sections including the best screenplay, the best short film, the best foreign-language film, the best supporting role, etc.

The Academy Awards is organized by American institute The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The 91st edition of the event will be held on February 24, 2019.
