Iranian director calls for producing for children

Commenting on the 31st International Film Festival for Children and Youth which is to be held in the tourist city of Isfahan, he described this global prestigious cinematic event as the best venue to introduce children's cinema.

Partovi added that the children cinema should be supported in all circumstance.

'One of the main features of the children's film is its colorfulness,' he said, adding that one of the criticisms that can be made in children and adolescents' works is lack of charm and color elements in these works.

Some filmmakers consider children cinema as the easiest way to enter the cinema industry and feel that they have became a filmmaker, while the cinema is very difficult for this particular age group.

Born in November 11, 1955, Partovi made his feature film debut with Golnar in 1988 . His 2007 film Café Transit, which received the special mention at Mar del Plata film festival, was selected by Iran as its candidate for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

He also has written screenplays for 'The Circle'.

Presided by Alireza Reza Dad, the 31st edition of International Film Festival for Children and Youth is slated for August 30- September 5 in Isfahan Province.
