The Cultural Consulate of Embassy of Iran in collaboration with Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) has organized the event. The exhibition will remain open till Feb 10.
Pakistan’s Minister for Education, National History and Literary Heritage, Shafqat Mahmood speaking as a chief guest on the occasion lauded the efforts of the Cultural Consulate of Embassy of Iran and PNCA in organizing such an important event.
He added that this exhibition will play a vital role towards understanding the Iranian calligraphy. The minister said that Iran and Pakistan share same history and culture.
Shafqat Mahmood said that Iran and Pakistan as two friendly neighboring states would further strengthen their bilateral ties. “We have to protect our cultural heritage,” he stressed.
Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost, Iranian Cultural Consular Mohammad Reza Kaka, Director General of PNCA Syed Jamal Shah and Director General of the National Language Promotion Department (NLPD) Iftikhar Arif were also present.
Besides display of exquisite Iranian calligraphy, artists from Iran and Pakistan will also conduct a 2-day calligraphy workshop on February 8 and 9 to create the understanding of the similarities of calligraphic techniques among the young and up-coming artists.
Iranian calligraphy is the most revered arts throughout history of Iran and is one of the most eye-catching and fascinating manifestations of Iranian culture in post-Islam period. Iran has played the most significant role in the evolution of calligraphy.
