Iranian calligraphers top int'l contest

The award ceremony of the competition was held on Sunday evening in Tehran in the presence of Iranian and non-Iranian officials, including Turkish ambassador to Tehran Derya Örs, Iran's Islamic Culture and Relations Organizations Abuzar Ebrahimi-Torkman, head of IRCICA Halit Eren.

Iran received 17 awards in the contests.

IRCICA holds the calligraphy competitions every three years, in Jaly Thuluth, Thuluth, Naskh, Muhaqqaq, Thuluth – Naskh, Jaly Taliq, Taliq, Jaly Diwani, Diwani, Kufi.

In this year's competitions, 613 participants from 38 countries took part with 833 works.
The selected works and participants were introduced on April 20 and the works will be on display at the IRCICA center in Istanbul until April 30.
