Iranian author nominated for Hans Christian Andersen award

According to the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, the authors selected for Hans Christian Andersen Award will be introduced today by International Board on Books for Young People at 55th round of Bologna Children's Book Fair.

The Hans Christian Andersen Award is the highest international distinction given to authors and illustrators of children's books. Given every other year by IBBY, the Hans Christian Andersen Awards recognize lifelong achievement and are given to an author and an illustrator whose complete works have made an important, lasting contribution to children's literature.

The Hans Christian Andersen Awards are presented every two years by IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) to an author and an illustrator whose complete works have made an important and lasting contribution to children's literature.

IBBY National Sections from 35 countries submitted the following 28 illustrators 33 authors as candidates for the 2018 Hans Christian Andersen Awards:

Farhad Hassanzadeh has played an important role in Iranian children's literature for the last four decades.

With his novels, stories, rewriting old stories, poems, biographies and articles in journals, he has been able to encourage a wide range of audience in different age groups to study literary works.
