Iran youth actively participates in Hackathon competitions

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum is a global United Nations (UN) multistakeholder platform facilitating the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines for advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It provides an opportunity for information exchange, knowledge creation and sharing of best practices, while identifying emerging trends and fostering partnerships, taking into account the evolving Information and Knowledge Societies.

A hackathon is a design sprint-like event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers, project managers, and others, often including domain experts, collaborate intensively on software projects.

This year an Iranian youth grabbed top grade in Hackthon category.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammad Javad Azari-Jahromi also attended the event and is supposed to hold talks with heads of great international organizations in Geneva.

World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) will be underway with the attendance of over 3,000 members from 150 countries.

Iran educational and research network has been nominated in the event.

Azari-Jahromi is also scheduled to hold talks with his Bulgarian counterpart, Georgian vice communication minister, Secretary General of International Telecommunication Union Houlin Zhao and CEO of World Intellectual Property Organization Francis Gurry.

Iranian minister is slated to head for Vienna on Wednesday to visit head of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs.

Signing cooperation document between Iran and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is also on Jahromi's itinerary.
