
Mohammad Jafar Saafi, Director General for Foreign Media Affairs of the Ministry of Culture made the remarks Monday evening in a meeting with Aram Ananian, Direcctor of Armenia official news agency, Armenpress.
Saafi welcomed signing an agreement between Armenpress and its Iranian counterpart the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) calling it 'a positive step'.
On October 21, IRNA and Armenpress signed an agreement to promote bilateral cooperation.
Currently, 149 foreign media have representative office in Iran including 79 radio and television networks and 37 news agencies, Saafi said adding that some 22 newspapers and 12 photo institutes have also offices in Tehran.
Hailing signing cooperation deal between IRNA and Armenpress as an admirable move, he said that in today’s world, the best way to receive correct information is to have direct communications with first-hand sources.
Dispatching cultural and artistic groups and holding joint exhibitions will pave the way for proximity between the two nations, the Iranian official said.
Meanwhile, the Armenian side called for the help of Iran's culture ministry's Foreign Media Department for opening Armenpress’ office in Tehran which was welcomed by the Iranian official.
