Iran to host first international Persian Language Olympiad

“We are preparing a model to promote Persian language and dialects through this Olympiad as the Persian we speak and write are different from that in Afghanistan and Tajikistan,” said Enayat Salarian, Deputy at Iran's National Organization for Development of Exceptional Talents on Monday.

Salarian added that preparations for devising the questions, its rules and regulations are underway.

The official highlighted that any individual, either school or university student, from countries that have diplomatic relations with Iran can participate in the international Olympiad.

“We are not seeking to award the winners. What we are looking for is promotion of the Persian language and literature among Farsi speakers around the world.

There are over 80 million native Persian speakers and 110 million people worldwide.
