The elderly care regional conference will be held in Iran with participation of 300 foreign guests, said Mohseni-Bandpey who was in New York on Tuesday to participate at the 11th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
'Participants are expected to review issues related to the healthcare and welfare of the elderly and share their experience in the area of elderly care,' he said.
Referring to the 11th session of the Conference of States Parties to the CRPD, he said that the Iranian delegation explained to the participants ten main measures taken by Iran to address disability issues.
We elaborated on measures taken by Iran in the areas pf prevention, launching a social emergency service center, employment, promotion of Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs), standardizing services as well as the experience acquired by Iran through its engagement with international organizations.
According to Mohseni-Bandpey the elderly form 9.3 percent of the population in Iran.
