Iran to continue cooperation with UNODC

Alireza Saedi made the remarks Thursday addressing Tehran Meeting on Crime Prevention Policies which was held with the attendance of 20 countries.

Thanks to the positive outcome of the cooperation, the country's Judiciary is determined to maintain its cooperation with the UNODC, Saedi said.

All these cooperation have been defined in the framework of Iran’s plans and have been signed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he added.

During the meeting representatives of the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Sweden and Germany presented their experiences in terms of finding alternatives to imprisonment and the importance of decreasing the number of prisoners.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is a United Nations agency established in 1997 as the Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention by combining the United Nations International Drug Control Program (UNDCP) and the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Division in the United Nations Office at Vienna.
