Iran, Spain hold conference on fighting extremism

During the event, Professor Gonzalez referred to his trip to Iran in 2017, saying the country is a valuable, historical and civilized nation.

Due to the hegemony of media, Iran has not been introduced well in European countries, he said.

Iran is worth seeing for any researcher, he added.

He also expressed hope for the conference to show Iran's efforts in fighting extremism.

Iran's Cultural Attaché in Spain Alireza Esmaili, for his part, elaborated on the importance of Persian language and its global position.

He also hoped for launching Iranology Course in the University of Salamanca.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has paid huge prices to confront religious extremism, he said.

Shia Islam is a moderate religion and is against any extremism, her added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Esmaili referred to the Zionist Regime of Israel and the US in establishing and supporting extremist groups.

He also reiterated Iran's Constitution principles stipulating minorities' rights.

The University of Salamanca is a Spanish higher education institution, located in the city of Salamanca, west of Madrid, in the autonomous community of Castile and León.
