Iran, Russia underline expanding cultural ties

Iranian Minister Seyyed Abbas Salehi met with Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky after attending the inaugural ceremony of an international cultural forum in Saint Petersburg and discussed with him Tehran-Moscow cultural cooperation.

Appreciating the Russian government's assistance in organizing Iran cultural week in Russia, Salehi expressed hope that Russia cultural week would be held in Iran next year.

Medinsky, for his part, expressed his country's readiness to expand all out relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Iranian minister is scheduled to meet with a group of Russian Iranologists and professors of Persian language and literature in Saint Petersburg Friday.

The 7th Saint Petersburg International Cultural Forum opened in the Russian cultural capital Thursday, attended by the culture ministers of various countries, senior political officials and representatives of international organizations.

St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum is a unique cultural event of the world level, a discussion platform, which attracts annually several thousand cultural experts from all over the world.

The forum is held by the Government of St. Petersburg with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
