Iran, Pakistan discuss recent development in Afghanistan

During their phone conversation, both sides reviewed the need to take joint measures against outbreak of coronavirus.

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry in a statement announced that Shah Mahmood Qureshi expressed readiness to maintain cooperation with Iran in fighting coronavirus epidemic.

He also appreciated Zarif’s stances with regard to recent violence against Indian Muslims.

Earlier, Pakistani top diplomat wrote in his Twitter account: “Fully share the concerns expressed by my brother @JZarif on safety and well-being of Indian Muslims facing naked violence from RSS mobs. India is in throes of grave communal violence. Their sinister & systemic killing of Muslims is inhuman & dangerous for whole region.”

Today, Zarif held phone conversations with his Norwegian, Russian, Austrian and Swiss counterparts over Iran‘s measures to fight coronavirus epidemic.

The novel coronavirus was first detected in China in late December and has since spread to more than 50 countries, prompting the WHO to declare a global health emergency.

Head of the Iran's Health Ministry's public relations office Kianoush Jahanpour said on Wednesday that the coronavirus death toll mounted to 92 in Iran out of the total figure of 2,922 people who have been affected by the virus.

He added that 552 people have recovered from the virus and dismissed from hospitals.

Some 15 people have lost their lives since yesterday, said Jahanpour.
