Iran official urges establishing ‘Road Guardians’ group

Speaking in the second Belt and Road forum in Beijing, Seraj said the 'Road Guardians group' consists of representatives which have three main responsibilities of observing, warning and suggesting.

He added that the group will make the Silk Road states as a commonwealth network informed of events, warnings and suggestions with regard to fighting corruption and rule of law.

The Road Guardians Group deals with observing and anti-corruption bodies and ombudsman of the member states and also with regional and international bodies, he noted.

Seraj went on to say that the network is aimed at no only gaining the interests of these cooperation, but being an effective network to protect legal principles against unilateral governments’ over-ambitions and also to maintaining cooperation in fighting corruption.

The second Belt and Road forum was held with the attendance of over 5,000 foreign guests from 137 countries, including 37 presidents and prime ministers and 150 ministers on April 25-27.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), also known as the One Belt One Road (OBOR) is a development strategy adopted by the Chinese government involving infrastructure development and investments in 152 countries and international organizations in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Latin America and Africa.
