Iran MP lauds Norway support for JCPOA

Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, the head of Iranian parliament (Majlis) national security and foreign policy commission referred to Iran's role in fighting terrorism and drug trafficking and expressed the hope that Norway would help promote world peace and security by joining the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX).

He made the remarks in a meeting with Norway's Foreign Minister Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide.

The lawmaker praised Oslo support for implementation of the JCPOA.

He described the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal as violation of the international rules, and regulations and said that the EU position was disappointing.

In the meantime, the Norwegian foreign minister expressed concern over developments in the region and urged all sides of the conflict to exercise restraint.

He also voiced hope that the ground will be prepared for presence of Norwegian companies in Iran.
