Iran expresses joy over rescue of 12 Thai youths from cave

Qasemi wrote in the message that the Iranian nation was also worried about the fate of the youths and was pursuing the news with concern.

“We thank God that the gift of life was bestowed upon the youths,” he said, wishing that the soul of the officer who lost his life during rescue operation would rest in peace.

Some 12 Thai youths along with their coach were trapped in cave in northern Thailand on June 23. They were all rescued after an operation lasting two weeks.

Eighteen days after entering the caves on a team-bonding session, the remaining lost boys and their coach, as well as all rescue and medical personnel, emerged alive and well on Tuesday, following a daring and precarious operation, which saw one volunteer Navy seal lose his life.
