Iran earthquake death toll rises to 569

Artin Kamali, the director of Kermanshah Legal Medicine Organization, said that in their latest efforts, the rescue workers have identified 48 other bodies unearthed from the rubbles.

In the 7.3-magnitude quake that hit Kermanshah Province near the border with Iraq, hundreds of people were also injured.

Kamali said that all the newly-identified bodies are from the city of Sarpol-e Zahab, so that the number of those killed in the city reached 508.

The cities of Salas Babajani, Dalahoo and Qasr-e Shirin followed Sarpol-e Zahab with 23, 19 and 16 fatalities respectively, the official said.

Each of the cities of Eslamabad-e Gharb and Kermanshah had one of their citizens killed in the earthquake, he added.

Kamali said that the city of one of the victims of the quake is not clear yet.
