Iran documentary shining in US festival

The Big Sky Film Institute nurtures and elevates non-fiction films that have the power to transform our world, our culture, our youth and ourselves. The mission of BSFI is to celebrate and promote the art of nonfiction filmmaking, and to encourage media literacy by fostering public understanding and appreciation of documentary film.

In Mini-Doc Competition category, Iranian movies competed with the US, the UK, South Africa, Malawi, Zambia and India.

Lotus had earlier attended the UK Sheffield festival, LA Film Festival, Czech Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, Manchester Film Festival, Italy film festival, The Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society festival in Falmouth, Iraqi Kurdistan Dahuk festival and InShort Film Festival.

The 16th round of Big Sky Documentary Film Festival was held on February 15-24 in Missoula, Montana.

According to IMDb website, in February of 1996, the Lafour dam was started to be built in the north of Iran. In April of 2010, after the impoundment, Lafourak village and a few other villages went underwater about 80 meters.This led into the villagers' emigration to the other towns. But the old woman could not leave there, She built a hut on the hill, and stayed there. So she is waiting for a permit to enter the island to visit the only resident for thirteen years old.
