Historical site uncovered in sothern Tehran: Iranian official

Director General of Cultural Herritage, Handicrafts and Tourism office of Tehran Province, Delavar Bozorgnia told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that the ancient area has been unearthed recently by archeologists in Shahr-e Rey.

Some parts of historical walls and other structures have been uncovered in the region located along Imam Ali highway that connects north of Tehran to the south, according to the official.

No object has been discovered at the site yet, but excavation for figuring out the date and finding other ancient parts of the region is underway, he said.

Shahr-e Rey is the center of Rey district, southern Tehran Province.
