Ex-British envoy congratulates Iranian New Year

“Nowruz Mubarak to all those marking the New Year in Iran and across the world,” Nicholas Hopton said in a Twitter message.

Norouz is celebrated as the first day of the Persian year (March 21). The tradition which is originated from the ancient Iran is also celebrated in some other countries.

Senior officials from many countries, as well as resident ambassadors in Iran, have so far expressed congratulations on the Iranian New Year.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London had introduced Robert Macaire as new ambassador of the UK to Iran. He will replace Hopton by April.
