Enhanced cooperation will help safeguard regional naval security

Pakistani Navy Commander Admiral Zafar Mahmoud Abbasi and Commander of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ (IRGC) Navy Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi met on the sidelines of the 6th Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) held in Tehran.

During the meeting, Fadavi expressed joy with good interaction and cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces in line with their common interests, saying that since Iran and Pakistan are located in the same region, any insecurity will affect both of them.

Blaming the US for all the insecurities in West Asia, he said that regional states including Iran and Pakistan have suffered a lot from the US-led terrorism.

Fortunately, Pakistani statesmen and military men have adopted decisive stance against Trump’s unwise rhetoric, he said.

Describing Iran and Pakistan as a ‘single hand of Islam’, Fadavi said that both countries can further promote their defense power in various fields through coordination and synergy.

He also hoped that Iran-Pakistan joint maneuver would be held successfully this year.

Admiral Abbasi, for his part, appreciated Iran’s measures to safeguard regional waters security, noting that Iran and Pakistan have had good historic communications since the ancient times on the basis of Islam and Persian language.

Noting that the enemies are seeking to create rift between the two countries, he said that Pakistan has great respect for the Iranian nation and country, as it had supported Iran during the imposed war.

Deploring certain disputes among Muslims and underlining further unity in the Islamic world, the Pakistani commander hoped that the two countries would have close military cooperation in future.

Hosted by Navy of Islamic Republic of Iran Army, the 6th Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) kicked off in Tehran on Monday morning.

The two-day event has brought together 35 high-ranking military delegations from across the world, including India, Turkey, and Australia.
